"Stony Brook Women's Soccer Wins Their First Ever CAA Championship And Punches Ticket To NCAA Tournament For The Fifth Time In Program History"

Stony Brook and Monmouth had a big game as they fight for the CAA Championship and try to get into the NCAA tournament. Stony Brook was looking for their first ever CAA Championship against Monmouth but knew it would be a tough task on the road. A lot of fans from both teams showed support for all the players and getting them ready for a huge matchup. The senior players wanted to play their hearts out as it could be the last game for most of them. Monmouth was ranked 1 while Stony Brook is ranked 2 coming into this match.

Monmouth was doing a great job dominating with shots on goal in this game but couldn't really convert. Stony Brook took advantage of that and put the pressure on them by scoring a goal at 31:41 from Luciana Setteducate (11) assisted by Reilly Rich. Stony Brook's defense did a good job of preventing all the shots that came close and their goal keeper Nicolette Pasquarella was on her feet but didn't back down from the challenge. In the second half Monmouth continued to find shots at a high rate but still couldn't get that first goal. At 54:03 Linn Beck (10) extended the lead to 2-0 assisted by Luciana Setteducate.

Stony Brook's was dominant this whole game when it came to momentum and pressure. But at 78:35 Monmouth got some confidence back getting a goal from Summer Reimet (14) assisted by Grace Notarfrancesco. Monmouth was trying to tie this game up but Stony Brook did a great job of getting key stops towards the end. They held on to win their first ever CAA Championship with a score of 2-1 and going to the NCAA Tournament now for the fifth time in program history.


Linn Beck was responsible for the game winning goal, earning most outstanding player honors. Beck was fantastic in this game against Monmouth as they get ready for the NCAA Tournament now. Congrats to Stony Brook and their coaching staff winning the CAA Championship and it was a big moment for them in program history.
