St. Rose Boys Basketball who has been dominant this whole season with only two losses were looking for their first ever Shore Conference Championship in school history against Manasquan. Brian Lynch who is the head coach for St. Rose has them doing something special as a team with great young talent. They have five seniors currently on the roster having tons of experience which helps and staying focused in This type of game. St. Rose has the ability to beat you in many ways with defense, shooting and mix matching lineups each game. Manasquan is also a talented team underneath coach Andrew Bilodeau.
The first quarter was a close game between these two teams. They both were fast pace and up tempo from both ends of floor. Griffin Linstra had a quick start to this game for Manasquan while Jayden Hodges was on fire early for St. Rose. The turnovers were an issue for Manasquan with St. Rose taking advantage of it big time. Matthew Hodge who is the brother of Jayden also had a great game. St. Rose and Manasquan were tied at 12-12 heading to the second quarter.
St. Rose took over this game from the second quarter on with their defense keeping Manasquan's offense single digits in each quarter. They outscored the Warriors 24-16 in first half being able to extend their lead by drawing fouls also. Manasquan needed to make some huge adjustments at halftime if they wanted to comeback in this game but the Hodges brothers and their teammates took over the second half. They outscored the Warriors 24-11 in third and fourth quarter having all the momentum at that point.
Manasquan couldn't recover from the first half as St. Rose make history winning their first ever Shore Conference Championship at Monmouth University yesterday underneath coach Brian Lynch by a score of 48-27 improving to 25-2. What a great team effort from St. Rose as they wanted this championship more. The Hodges brothers combine for 30 points and 14 rebounds which was a big difference in this game. Big accomplishment for this school, coaching staff, fans, players and their families.
