After losing a tough game against Blair during the Hoop Group Boardwalk Showcase at Brookdale Community College two days ago, SJV got a big bounce back win yesterday against Holmdel high school at home. This was a 4:00 Pm start but didn't know if they were going to play this game or not because of the Showcase game. SJV ended up going thru with this game against Holmdel, didn't show fatigue and played great. Coming into this matchup, Holmdel was 5-3 knowing that it would be a tough one against 7-2 SJV.
SJV started this game off strong on offense and defense while Holmdel struggled in the beginning. They were able to find great quality looks at the basket early, found open teammates, forcing turnovers and drawing fouls. Holmdel was down by 9 heading into second quarter with the score being 20-11. Holmdel's defense played a little better but still gave up high percentage shots to SJV. Their offense started to pick up a little also but down double digits heading into halftime by a score of 35-25. SJV had all the momentum/confidence going into second half and Holmdel needed to make adjustments.
In the second half SJV outscored Holmdel 27-13 and took off from there. They continued shooting the ball well, stepped up on defense more and took advantage of Holmdel's mistakes. SJV put this game out of reach, ending up getting a huge win with a score of 62-38 and improving to 8-2 this season. They also improve to 3-0 in the shore as this game will give them a confidence boost again.
