"Rutgers Scarlet Knights Women's Soccer Improves To 2-1-1 This Season With A 3-0 Victory Over Lehigh"

Rutgers Scarlet Knights women's soccer hosted Lehigh live at Yurcak Field as they look to go above 500 early in the season. This game was on Big Ten Network also with 677 fans that were in attendance. Coach Mike Mike O'Neill and the staff has built a fantastic program over the years when it comes to this soccer team. They are led by seniors Gia Girman, Kylie Daigle, Emily Mason, Kassidy Banks, Cameron Kennett and Riley Tiernan. If this team can stay healthy then it could be a special season for them potentially.

Scarlet Knights got off to fast start in this game against Lehigh with a goal from Gabriela Gil that was assisted by Riley Tiernan. Gil scored her first goal of the season giving them confidence early on for their defense. Rutgers did a great job of moving the ball, confusing Lehigh's defense and finding great shots on goal. At the 35th minute in first half Allie Post scored her first goal of the season also which made it 2-0 Rutgers and assisted by Mikayla Mandleur. They had all the momentum going into halftime.

Heading into the second half there were some bad weather coming with lighting strikes, rain and thunder. Both teams still played before it came as Lehigh was trying to get back on track. The thunder and lightning then started, eventually they had to stop this game into a delay as every strike pushed it back to 30 minutes. It was a 1.5 hour weather delay as this game resumed after a while. Rutgers didn't loose any momentum after the long wait as Riley Tiernan scored her first goal of this season also at 66th minute to extend Scarlet Knights lead to 3-0.

Great team win for Rutgers against Lehigh yesterday at home and improving to 2-1-1.
