Jackson Liberty high school hosted the Non-Public B Final Round yesterday between Rutgers Prep and St. Rose. This game was bigger for St. Rose with the experience of Rutgers Prep and their dominance over the years. Mary Coyle Klinger turned Rutgers Prep into a winning school since she has been the head coach and having another great season at 23-4. St. Rose who is coached by Christine Hatfield is another fantastic leader for that team as she has built a winning school also. Does Rutgers Prep have another title in them or can St. Rose change that script, let's find out.

St. Rose and Rutgers Prep started up tempo right from the start as sophomore guard Gigi Battle got things going for Rutgers Prep by drawing a foul early. Both teams had trouble with the fouls as their players kept driving to the basket. Mikayla Blakes heated up quickly against St. Rose's defense as they had trouble stopping her in this game. Controlling the ball was an issue for these teams with turnovers going back and forth at one point. Rutgers Prep had a 3 point lead by a score of 13-10 heading into the second quarter.

Rutgers Prep's defense struggled a little bit in second quarter as sophomore guard Jada Lynch started to heat up also for St. Rose from the three point line and jump shots. They ended up tying this game at 20-20 midway thru second quarter with St. Rose getting some momentum. Cassidy Krusel got some big shots for St. Rose helping out Jada Lynch. Rutgers Prep did a great job ending the second quarter on a strong run with key contributions from Chloe Escanillas, Leah Crosby and Ava LaMonica. Rutgers Prep had a 28-22 lead going into halftime with St. Rose still sitting in a great position.

The third quarter was a struggle for St. Rose as they got outscored 19-11 by Rutgers Prep with their scoring and drawing fouls. Rebounding was a huge success for Rutgers Prep as Leah Crosby finished with a double double and Gigi Battle got 9 rebounds. They had a 47-33 lead over St. Rose heading into the fourth quarter with all confidence in the world. Rutgers Prep put this game away with a 16-9 run as their defense was locked in to end the game.
