Yesterday live at Adventure Crossing Toms River East and Point Pleasant Boro played for the OCT Championship softball game between two great teams this season. This pitching matchup was one to watch as Kaleigh Fitzgibbons for Toms River East went up against Dakota Palmeri with Point Pleasant Boro. Coming into this game the Raiders were 11-5 while Panthers was sitting at 13-2. Peyton Gallagher and Paige Cannon big milestones for their respective teams as both of them got 100 career hits now. Who will come out on top to win the 2024 OCT Championship game.
It was a pitching duel early in this game between Kaleigh Fitzgibbons and Dakota Palmeri. Point Pleasant Boro started the scoring right away as they got a run in bottom of first inning to give Palmeri momentum on the mound. It was 1-0 Panthers till the 6th inning as Toms River East Raiders got on the board finally to tie this game at 1-1. But that wouldn't last long with Point Pleasant Boro getting the lead back from a inside the park home run from Georgia Tym who was clutch in this game. That extended the lead to 5-1 as Toms River East had some work to do in order to come back.
Kaleigh Fitzgibbons was dominant for the Raiders until the sixth inning as their center fielder didn't stop in front of the ball which lead to that inside the park home run. Dakota Palmeri did fantastic job against Toms River East hitters in this game and limiting the damage. Palmeri went 7.0 innings, 8 hits, 1 er, 1 run, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Tym had 4 rbis, 1 home run (inside the park) and Palmeri also added an rbi. What a performance from both of them as they put the team on their back in a huge game like this. With this 5-1 victory, Point Pleasant Boro Panthers improve to 14-2 this season.
