Monmouth women's soccer finished the season strong yesterday as they get ready for the CAA tournament by beating Campbell 3-0 at home on senior day. Rachel Ludwick, Marisa Tavia, Julia Evernham, Brianna Russo, Lauren Bruno, Julianna Caccamo, Chloe Ferreira Allie Jones and Sammy Jone were all honored before the game with their families for the contributions they made. Head coach Kylee Flynn was trying to keep them focused, Locked in and ready as they were trying to cement the third seed in this year's tournament.
Less then in a minute into second half Monmouth got momentum right away with a goal from Chloe Ferreira (1) at the 45th minute assisted by Loren Gehret. Ferreira was all over the field yesterday making key plays to help them win. Then during the 49th minute, the Hawks once again put more pressure on Campbell as Liza Suydam (5) made it 2-0 assisted by Lauren Bruno. Monmouth did a fantastic job of switching up the game plan in second half by winning most of 50/50s, spreading the offense out on pitch, knowing their defense assignments and getting better shots on goal.
At the 88th minute, Hawks got a late goal from Julia Evernham (4) making it 3-0 over Campbell assisted by Allie Jones, and Summer Reimet. Cassie Coster who is the goalie for Monmouth was outstanding with Campbell having trouble finding open shots. Coster only made 2 saves during the whole game with no goal attempts. She basically pitched a 2 hit shout-out in baseball terms. Coster has been improving every year as a goalie and one of the best in CAA.
With this win, Monmouth Hawks end the season at 9-5-2, 8-2-2 and now get ready for the CAA tournament against no 6 Stony Brook on Thursday October 26th 4:00 Pm Eastern at Hempstead New York.
