Manalapan Braves girls soccer beats Monroe 1-0 in the NJSIAA Tournament, Semifinal round Central Jersey as it was a hard fought game from both sides. It was at Monroe high school where they had a great crowd in attendance for this game yesterday. Both teams were finding shots on goals throughout the whole game while they didn't take advantage of the calls from the refs. Manalapan put the pressure first on pitch against Monroe's defense making their goalie work early.
Monroe then started to get some good looks against Manalapan but couldn't capitalize with a momentum goal. Both defenses did a great job in first half establishing their assignments, executing the game plan and being ready at any moment. A lot of calls were called during the first half but didn't really help with Momentum. At halftime both teams were trying to make some adjustments and who would strike first in second half.
Well 24 minutes into the second half Manalapan finally gets on the board with a goal from number 8 Vanessa as she gives them momentum now against Monroe. The defense for Manalapan continued to play strong as Monroe was trying to Keep up and tie the game. They had so many opportunities but couldn't finish it as Manalapan beats them 1-0 in a fantastic and crazy game. After they stormed the field to celebrate moving to next round.
Manalapan will face Freehold Township now on Monday November 6th at 2:00 Pm Eastern.
