Montclair State University women's basketball faced Kean University this weekend as both teams had opposite records at 9-6 and 6-9 heading into the matchup. Two players to watch from Kean were Brittany Graff and Gigi Gamble who are both talented and can do multiple things on the court. Montclair needed to prevent them from having big games if they wanted to win this game. The Graff and Gamble duo makes everyone around them better as they are keys to this team in every game. The first quarter was competitive, close and intense. Both teams was able to find open shots early, getting some foul calls and the defenses was struggling a little bit. They were tied at 15-15 heading to second quarter. Montclair did a great job in second quarter but couldn't stop Graff and Gamble from scoring. Montclair did keep up with the scoring before halftime scoring 23 points and giving up only 18. Montclair had a 38-33 lead with momentum and trying to figure out how to stop Graff and Gamble. Kean ended up making the right adjustments and dominated the second half.
Kean picked it up on offense and defense in second half as they outscored Montclair 43-28 in both third/fourth quarters. They pushed the tempo with Graff and Gamble still scoring at a high rate. Montclair had trouble on the offensive side also as they kept it close but Kean ended up winning this game 76-66 improving to 10-6 this season and Montclair falls to 6-10. Second chance points was a success for Kean in their victory over Montclair.
