Jackson Memorial Jaguars girls basketball had a 10:30 AM Eastern game yesterday against Central Regional as they try to continue their hot streak. The Jaguars were 11-3 while Central Regional was 5-9 coming into this matchup. Even though the record is not what Central Regional expected, they still have a talented team led by head coach Dan Torsiello and five seniors this season. The Jaguars are playing on another level right now as they clicking on all cylinders at right time. Lets see who will step up in a big moment between these two teams.
The Jaguars and Central Regional was playing up tempo early in this game but Jackson had everything going when Chelsea Lavezzo draws a foul to get them going on offense. Then Cali Brown got going when she had a put back shot for Jackson and couldn't be stopped after that. Central Regional had a tough time finding shots against their defense as they were ready for any opportunity once Central put a shot up. Jackson was lights out from the three point line which was another big factor in this game and was able to extend the lead whenever Central Regional made a run. Jaguars had a 23-8 lead going onto the second quarter with Cali unbeatable start.
Chelsea Lavezzo did a great job of continuing to get Central Regional into foul trouble as she has success going to the basket. Cali also continued her hot shooting in second half while Avery Brooks and Kaylee Ambos starting to hit the three pointers. Their defense was outstanding still as they only gave up 14 total points in the first half against Central Regional's offense. Central did a better job of preventing some fast break points from Jackson but still couldn't take advantage of that. Jaguars had 35-14 lead heading into halftime as Central Regional needed to make quick adjustments against Cali Brown.
Central Regional did a better job of finding shots, slowing down the offense, more ball movement in second half but their defense was still struggling and out of sorts. Jackson outscored Central 32-22 in second half as they continued to pour it on. The bench for Jaguars was also huge for them in this game and rebounding at a high rate. Jackson ended up getting their sixth win in row with a 67-36 victory over Central improving to 12-3 this season and Regional drops to 5-10. If I were another team, I don't want to play Jackson Memorial Jaguars right now as they are dangerous and can beat you in multiple ways.
Jackson Memorial Jaguars next game is against Toms River South on Tuesday January 30th at 5:15 pm eastern at home.
