"Jackson Memorial Jaguars Girls Basketball Gets A Big Bounce Back Victory On Friday Against Freehold Township As Cali Brown Is Back In The Lineup"

Jackson Memorial Jaguars girls basketball faced off against Freehold Township As they look for a bounce back win after having a tough time against Red Bank Catholic. Jaguars come in at 15-5 while Freehold Township were 10-10 going into this matchup. The positive news for Jaguars was the Cali Brown is back in lineup for them after being out a couple of games with an injury. Brown is only a freshman but is a great player already as she brings a different dimension to this team. The key for both teams was to limit the turnovers.


Jaguars got off to a fast start but they had some early turnovers that Freehold Township took advantage of. The defense for both teams was outstanding in first half as they kept forcing tough shots and preventing easy baskets. Freehold Township went on a 7-0 run at one point with Jackson going cold. Freehold has a 9-8 lead going into the second quarter. Gabby Parker for Township got things going as she was able to find her quality looks near the basket or shooting away from basket. Then Chelsea Lavezzo started to heat up for Jackson as the intensity picked up. Jaguars had a 14-13 lead going into halftime with a close game in hand.


Freehold Township struggled in the third quarter as Jackson Jaguars went on a 16-1 run with fantastic defense, better offensive flow, great turnovers and caught them off guard. Freehold had nothing going in third quarter and Jaguars took advantage of that. Chloe Glickman and Sophie Tonino had some key buckets for Freehold while Avery Brooks, Cali Brown, Julianna Old, Kaylee Ambos and Isabella Finer stepped up huge for Jackson. Jaguars has a 30-14 lead against Freehold going into the fourth quarter with all momentum.


Jackson struggled a little bit in the fourth quarter that let Freehold Township make a run but wasn't enough. Jaguars did a great job of not giving up their lead while they were making a run. They ended up winning this game by 12 points 37-25 getting a big bounce back victory and improving to 16-5. Jaguars played better team basketball on Friday, sticked to their game plan and had huge contributions from key players. Their next game is Tuesday February 13th at 4:00 Pm Eastern against Rumson-Fair Haven.
