Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse had their senior day yesterday as they honored/celebrated Kate Clemente, Gianna Nardini, Remi Reinhart and Kasha Elzinga before the game with their families. The Lions were playing Caldwell as this team was looking to get back in the win column after struggling past few games. Caldwell had no bench and was short handed coming into this matchup which gave GCU an advantage. Lions were motivated, pumped up and ready to go on senior day with beautiful weather. Georgian Court is 10-1 all time against the Cougars, won seven straight against them and trying to continue the winning ways against Caldwell.
Senior midfielder Remi Reinhart got the Lions going at 14:31 with first goal of this game which eventually set a tone for them. Then Tiana Cipot tied the game at 1-1 at 14:03 for Caldwell Cougars. Georgian Court had better flow to their offense yesterday then in recent games with passing, finding better shots, less turnovers and sticking to their game plan. The Lions went on a 7-0 run in first quarter when it hit 8:46 with all momentum. But Tala Marzooq ended that run at 7:58 with her own goal which made it 8-2. Georgian Court had a 14-2 lead after one with another big run before second.
Caldwell had a tough time keeping up in this game being short handed and their defense struggling the whole game. The Lions did a fantastic job of limiting open shots on defense while they spent more time on Cougars side more making them adjust. Lions extended their run to 9-0 in second quarter as they had a 17-2 lead going into halftime. Georgian Court's Isabel Raimondi was outstanding finding her teammates for open shots with 7 assists in this game. Third quarter they scored 4 goals as a team which put this game away and had a 21-2 lead heading into fourth quarter.
The Lions ended this game on a 17-0 run when they had a 8-2 lead back in first quarter. Their offense was lights out, much better control and kept on putting the gas pedal on. They improve to 5-4 getting back on win column and going over 500 again with a 25-2 victory over Caldwell. This was a complete team win for them on senior day which they can build from it going into next game. They play against Jefferson on March 20th at 3:00 Pm.
