On Friday November 10th, I had an opportunity to help out my friends Jen and Samara with the Hustle Academy event, along with her sister and husband as they had one of the best basketball trainers/coaches in attendance in Ganon Baker. Baker trained some of top pro players during his career including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Skylar Diggins, Chris Paul, James Harden and others. This event happened at Christa McAullife Middle School which had a great turnout with kids around different age groups getting ready to train.
Hustle Academy AAU is a New Jersey based youth sports program focusing on growing their athletes into human beings on and off of the field of play. Their program focuses on ensuring they help to be the extended village that keeps our youth focused on the future and always striving for greatness. Ganon Baker has made it his personal mission to help even more people reach levels of excellence through his online basketball curriculum and mentorship program. Baker is regarded as one of the premier basketball skills coaches in the world.
Ganon Baker spoke to the kids before they started training at Christa McAullife Middle School giving them knowledge about the game, how to win life and improving skills as a player. He made them write down key things in a notebook, getting them to answer questions and speaking up in pressured situations. Then after the speech, they started training doing different drills. Pedro who was another assistant trainer did a great job of teaching the kids also on techniques. The training went about for two and half hours as they huddled up at the end and clapped it up.
After the training, I had an opportunity to interview Ganon Baker and Sarah Porter who was from Hustle Academy talking about the clinic, helping out the kids, training pro athletes, how Sarah and Samara started Hustle Academy.
