It was an intense, crazy back/forth game between Brick Township and Brick Memorial in a big rivalry matchup. Coming into this game the Dragons were 2-7 while Mustangs was 7-3. In rivalry games like these records don't matter because both teams get extra motivated and go to battle. This was one of most unpredictable matchups yesterday that could have went either way. Each moment between these two teams were key outcomes which led to the low scoring game.
Both teams set the tone right away on defense making it tough on each offense, forcing turnovers and no easy buckets at all. They were locked in every play when it came to defensive assignments and adjusted whenever each team drove to the basket. The Dragons had 14 combined points in first half while Mustangs were at 11 points combined before halftime as these coaches needed to figure out how to get more offense in second half.
The scoring started to pick up for Brick Township as they went on a 8-0 run to start of third quarter and still played great defense. Then the Mustangs needed a timeout to get back on track which it did help a little cutting the lead to 5 with a 4-0 run of their own to end the third quarter with some momentum going to the fourth by a score of 16-11. Brick Memorial did a better job of finding key baskets in last quarter to keep it close but still wasn't enough to win this big rivalry game. Brick Township Dragons survived a close one by winning 25-22 improving to 3-7 this season while Mustangs fall to 7-4.
