Sets Thrive Softball won their first championship yesterday live at Veterans Park in Old Bridge New Jersey in a best out of three scenerio. It was a beautiful 65 degree day to start off the game but got cooler towards the end. They played all three games yesterday with the first two being close ones and third one being a dominating one by sets. Both teams were loose, ready and getting ready to play the three biggest games of their season.
Don Bolton from Sets Thrive Softball started the game pitching first as the other team batted to begin. This game was back and fourth scoring as both teams made it interesting. Sets did a great job by not giving up till the end, kept fighting whenever they scored and played their game. Bolton just kept on pitching to give his team a chance to win the first game and get momentum early which they ended up winning 11-10. Sets was feeling confident going into game two as everyone huddled up for a speech.
Sets Thrive Softball batted first in game two as it was another close one. The other team started to get some key hits against Don Bolton, switched it up from game one and had a different mindset. Sets kept fighting in this game but couldn't really get that big hit as the other pitcher did a great job of limiting the damage but still gave up double digit runs. The other team ended up winning game two by a score of 12-11 which forced a critical game three as thia season came down to wire for the championship trophy.
Don Bolton of Sets huddled up everyone again for that motivation speech as they got ready to play game three. Chris Gehris who is the main power hitter for Sets was struggling most of the night but finally got that big home run which gave them a confidence boost. This team was locked in, focused and played their game again as they put up a great offensive showing and pitching from Bolton was more dominant. Sets ended up winning their first championship by a score of 16-1 as everyone was celebrating on the field and took pictures at the end.
Congrats to 2023 Sets Thrive Softball for winning their first championship as a group and glad to be a part of it.
